Description: A Dynamic Forest Restoration Blocks (DFRB) is a biologically meaningful landscape-scale forest management unit ranging in size between 2,500-27,000 acres wherein management is guided by 15-year Forest Management Plans designed to balance age classes, address threats, and improve forest structure. In general, the long-term goal of any given DFRB is to achieve and perpetuate a stand age class distribution of 15% early succession forest (<20yrs); 35-50% mixed age forests (21-125), and 35-50% late successional forest (>125 yrs). Effects of dynamic forest management on vegetation and wildlife communities is measured through a robust monitoring design. All DFRB are located in Pennsylvania.
